What our Chaplains Have to say
Chaplain Corne van Tonder
The ESC(SA) Course has changed my life entirely and enabled me to deal with my own past trauma and challenges and to overcome my fear of the dead and death itself. Doing the ESC(SA) Course has taken me to a new level of growth with the Lord and enabled me to become adept at assisting others in pain. Being a Chaplain has opened many doors for my Ministry. Today, I work with the SAPS and other first responders on crime, other traumatic scenes, the homeless, drug users, etc.
I heartily recommend this detailed and comprehensive course for anyone Called by God to assist victims of debilitating trauma.
Dr. Daniel Orogun
Postdoctoral Fellow, Research Associate, and Assistant, Office of the Dean, Faculty of Theology.
As a Doctorate in “On the Ground” Theology, it was not evident what would unfold during the Emergency Services Chaplaincy (SA) Course. But over time, it became evident that going through the ESC(SA) training was not just the best investment of time and resources I made in 2021/2022, it was also a platform to REVIEW and RE-ALIGN my PURPOSE & CALLING as an Academic and a Chaplain focusing on the Mental Healthcare sector.
I have no hesitation in recommending the ESC(SA) Training Course to anyone who is Called by God to serve those suffering pain and trauma.
My appreciation goes to the entire Leadership, Board members, and Training Faculty members of the ESC(SA).
Chaplain Stephanie Vermaak (Pastor)
The ESC(SA) Course has taught me more about being real in life and a truly servant-hearted relationship with the Lord than I learned in all my years of Pastoral Studies. To bring the Love of Christ to the truly broken-hearted at a time when they are experiencing the worst moments in their lives is humbling and brings me to a point where I can truly feel compassion and empathize with those in terrible pain. Especially suicide or attempted suicides are areas where the Lord truly works through me, as I have been there myself.
Irrespective of your present education, I can truly recommend this 18-week course for all those who feel Called of God to make a real difference in their own as well as in the lives of others.
Chaplain Charl Le Roux
The training course increased and opened my faith to the world around me. I was always very rigid with my beliefs prior to attending the course, feeling as though one must always practice faith privately.
After the course, I realised that faith and acts of faith are also for the service of those around you, not just yourself.
The course taught me how to be a “Good Samaritan” to myself and to those in pain. I highly recommend this course if you want to help yourself and others.
