Doing the ESC(SA) Course has taken me to a new level of growth with the Lord and enabled me to become adept at assisting others in pain. Being a Chaplain has opened many doors for my Ministry. Today, I work with the SAPS and other first responders on crime, other traumatic scenes, the homeless, drug users, etc.

As a Doctorate in “On the Ground” Theology, it was not evident what would unfold during the Emergency Services Chaplaincy (SA) Course. The ESC(SA) Course has taught me more about being real in life and a truly servant-hearted relationship with the Lord than I learned in all my years of Pastoral Studies. To bring the Love of Christ to the truly broken-hearted at a time when they are experiencing the worst moments in their lives is humbling and brings me to a point where I can truly feel compassion and empathize with those in terrible pain. Especially suicide or attempted suicides are areas where the Lord truly works through me, as I have been there myself.

The training course increased and opened my faith to the world around me. I was always very rigid with my beliefs prior to attending the course, feeling as though one must always practice faith privately.
After the course, I realised that faith and acts of faith are also for the service of those around you, not just yourself.
